Colon Moore
Director of Facility Planning and Construction Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools
Colon Moore is the Director of Facility Planning and Construction for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in
Winston-Salem, NC. He is currently overseeing an eight year, $350 million bond passed in 2016 and has begun
planning for the anticipated 2024 bond. The current bond allows for the expenditure of $87.5 million every two
years and includes two new schools, four replacement schools, five school additions, four major renovations, two
stadium replacements and four traffic improvement projects. Also included in the bond is $30 million of
maintenance and capital improvements and $24 million of technology upgrades.
Colon came to WS/FCS in June 2016 after spending his career in the commercial general contracting and construction
consulting business. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Construction from North Carolina State
University and has been a licensed general contractor in North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. He currently
serves as Chairman of the Winston- Salem (NC) Chamber of Commerce Construction Industry Council and is on the
Board of Directors of the NC Association for Learning Environments (A4LE). In 2008, Colon was elected to a two-year
term on the Stokes County (NC) Board of Education. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the
Greater Winston-Salem YMCA, the Forsyth Technical Community College Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, the King
(NC) Chamber of Commerce, and the King Public Library.
Colon enjoys spending time with his children. Jordan is a 2019 graduate of the University of NC at Charlotte, Jacob is
a senior lacrosse player at Belmont Abbey College and Addy is a senior at West Stokes High School.
