The hospitality and service industry experienced a record-breaking number of job losses as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. Jobless claims across the nation doubled to 6.6 million just in the past couple of weeks.
The NC Division of Employment Security has been overwhelmed by the sure volume of unemployment filings. Unemployed workers have been left dazed and confused as they attempt to navigate a system that was unprepared for a surge in demand.
Triad Food & Beverage Coalition believes it’s imperative hospitality and service industry workers proactively engage the General Assembly prior to the start of the new legislative session – so they understand the amount of damage incurred to our industry and have ideas to leverage when crafting policy.
