In 2018, we shared our vision for a reimagined Bailey South. Now, as this state-of-the-art concept comes to fruition, we want to share how we’re breathing new life into old bones.
The Variable
An ad agency where the thinking of an innovation consultancy meets the doing of an advertising agency.
The Variable occupies the 5th and 6th floors of Bailey South.
A projector hangs from the ceiling, creating an inspiring ambiance for team meetings and brainstorming.

This bright stairwell leads from the 5th floor to the 6th, complementing the reception area’s metalwork.
Black Mountain
Chocolate Bar
With its expanded seating and nighttime hours, North Carolina’s original bean to bar chocolate factory can be your new favorite place to socialize, study or relax.
Black Mountain Chocolate’s counter and confectionary display face the south end of the Coal Pit, providing contoured glimpses of the Low Line’s sweeping archways.
Where the magic happens: the chocolate-producing kitchen.
Black Mountain Chocolate’s bar will soon feature cocoa-inspired drinks and cocktails.
This main seating area provides cozy couches and booths to study, read or catch up with friends.
Front Street Capital
A full-service development, asset management and private equity real estate company built by industry-leading professionals with a drive to produce consistent, income-driven results.
Front Street Capital’s third floor suite includes multiple meeting spaces that provide incredible views of the Coal Pit and Innovation Quarter and highlight the intricate craftsmanship of local vendor Sunnyside Millwork.
Front Street Capital’s south side common area also delivers an unobstructed view of shops and restaurants along 4th street.
Accordiondoors in the entertainment space open up to a large outdoor area reserved for building tenants.

The 3rd-floor terrace offers stunning 360 views of the Innovation Quarter. Tenants can enjoy views of the greenspace at Bailey Park or our towering smokestacks on this ADA-compliant rooftop terrace.

Once complete, the 4th floor of Bailey South will feature panoramic views of downtown Winston-Salem and the Innovation Quarter. It’s just waiting for someone to call it home!
