Día de Los Muertos 5K

This is a pre-Halloween twilight 5K race starting and finishing in Bailey Park in the Innovation Quarter in downtown Winston-Salem. Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration.
This 5K run will be on a flat-out and back course that turns around near the Salem Cemetery. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes in recognition of Day of the Dead/Halloween. Participants will receive a special Día de Los Muertos t-shirt. Participants over 21 years old will receive a Día de Los Muertos cerveza from Incendiary Brewing Company. Water and Gatorade will also be available.
Following the race, the final Coal Pit Live show of the season will be available as free entertainment for runners.
Awards will be presented to the top 3 overall male and female finishers. First-place awards will be presented for age groups as follows:
Under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up.
Free parking is available on weekends in the City of Winston-Salem parking lots including the parking deck between 4th and 5th streets near Bailey Power Plant.
